Configure chart widget indicators

You can add an indicator line to highlight a particular value on either the x- or y-axis. This can, for example, make it clear when values that are plotted on the chart exceed a certain threshold:

Note

Axes need to be enabled for indicators to be displayed.

  1. If the widget configuration dialog box is not already open, do as follows:

    • If the widget is on a Grid layout dashboard, click the Menu icon new_settings_menu.png in the top right-hand corner of the widget and select Settings.

    • If the widget is on a Fluid layout dashboard, on the floating toolbar for the widget, click the Settings icon: new_settings_menu.png.

  2. Click the Configuration tab.

  3. On the left-hand side, click Indicators.

A list of one or more indicators is displayed. The first time that you configure the indicators, there is just one indicator in the list. However, it's not active until you configure it.

To add an indicator, click the plus icon add_via_point.png to the right of the last series in the list.

To delete an indicator, click the rubbish bin icon new_delete.png to the right of the indicator.

  4. For each indicator, change the settings as required:

    Setting

    Description

    Choose Axis

The axis for which you want to indicate one of the values.

    Indicator Value

The value on your chosen axis at which the indicator should be displayed.

    Note

If the axis represents non-numeric data, for example dates, the value refers to the number of data points from the origin of the axis. For example, if the x-axis displays a sequence of dates, a value of 10 would fix the indicator at the 11th data point (a value of 0 would be the first data point).

    Indicator Text

The label that is displayed alongside the indicator.

You can also translate this text by clicking on the Translate icon translate.png and entering the translation of the desired language selected. Auto-suggestions are also available where the reused contents are auto-suggested.

    Note

It must be 0-120 characters only.

    Choose Color

The color of the indicator line and label.

    Line Style

The appearance of the indicator line: whether it is solid or a combination of dashes and dots.

    Indicator Text Alignment

The alignment of the indicator text.

    Indicator Text Rotation

The number of degrees through which the indicator labels are rotated clockwise.

    Note

    It must be 0-360 only.

    Horizontal Correction

The number of pixels by which the label is offset horizontally from the position specified by Align. A negative value repositions the label to the left; a positive value repositions the label to the right.

    Vertical Correction

The number of pixels by which the label is offset vertically from the indicator line. A negative value repositions the label upward; a positive value repositions the label downward.

  5. Click Save.
