Quantela platform user manual

Widgets

A dashboard displays information using one or more widgets, each of which displays information from one or more data sources in one of a number of presentation styles, for example table, chart, or map, depending on the widget type.

The Quantela platform provides several widget types, which are grouped together in the category Visual Widgets. You can add one of these to a dashboard, and configure it so that it displays the information that you want, in the style that you want.

When you are happy with the settings of a particular widget, you can save it for re-use, to save you or someone else having to apply the same configuration to a fresh widget. It is then added to the category Application Widgets.

You can configure widgets to update their information in response to events. For example, you can configure a datagrid widget to display information about a particular Region when the user selects from the Region drop-down list at the top of the dashboard. You can also configure widgets to trigger events. For example, you can configure a map widget to trigger an event when the user clicks a town on the widget, which in turn causes a chart widget to be updated.
