Create an automation rule
  1. In the top left-hand corner of the main dashboard screen, click the Manage icon: manage_icon.PNG.

  2. On the Manage panel, click Automation new_menu_automation.PNG.

  3. On the right-hand side of the Automation Rules screen, click the Automation Rule icon: new_automation_rule.png.

  4. Depending on the how the automation rule is to be triggered, drag one of the triggers from the Select Triggers menu on the left of the screen to the studio canvas.

  5. Click on the Configure icon within the stream node to configure the trigger:new_edit.png. The configuration options depend on the type of trigger:

  6. Drag one of the event types from the Apply Events menu on the left of the screen to the studio canvas.

  7. Click on the Configure icon within the event-type node to configure the event type:new_edit.png and enter the following configuration parameters:

    Criticality

    Select one of the following to specify the importance of the event:

    • Low

    • Medium

    • High

    Description

    Enter a textual description.

    Properties

    Set a value for each of the event source properties of the event. The options in Select Type are as follows:

    • Variable - Select any of the other event source properties as its value from Select Value.

    • Constant - Enter a fixed value in Select Value.

  8. Enter the following details in the Create Rule panel:

    Enter Rule Name

    Provide a descriptive name for the event type that will be shown in the list of event types on the Automation screen.

    Note

    It must be 3-50 alphanumeric and underscore characters only.

    Description

    Enter a textual description that will be shown in the list of event types on the Automation screen.

    Status

    Specify whether the event type is to be Active or Inactive. If it is set to inactive then the event will not be triggered until it is set back to active.

  9. When you have configured the automation rule, click Create to save it.
