Configure basic dashboard settings

  1. In the top left-hand corner of the main screen, click the Dashboards menu icon.

  2. Click Dashboard Settings at the bottom of the panel.

  3. In the dialog box that is displayed, click the Dashboard tab.

  4. Change the settings as required:

    Setting

    Description

    Name

    The name that is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the main screen.

    You can also translate this text by clicking on the Translate icon translate.png and entering the translation of the desired language selected. Auto-suggestions are also available where the reused contents are auto-suggested.

    Note

    It must be 3-32 characters only.

    Description

    The text that is displayed when the mouse cursor hovers over the Name.

    You can also translate this text by clicking on the Translate icon translate.png and entering the translation of the desired language selected. Auto-suggestions are also available where the reused contents are auto-suggested.

    Note

    It must be 3-100 characters only.

    Display Title

    The name that is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the main screen. You can use either plain text or HTML code. It overrides the Name.

    You can also translate this text by clicking on the Translate icon translate.png and entering the translation of the desired language selected. Auto-suggestions are also available where the reused contents are auto-suggested.

    Category

    The group in the dashboard menu list to which the dashboard belongs.

    Dashboard Order

    The position at that which the dashboard gets displayed in the category.

    Tags

    Unused at present. Later, tags that you enter here can be used on the User Profile > User name > Dashboards tab for searching for dashboards.

    Layout Type

    The layout type that was selected on dashboard creation which is either Grid or Fluid.

    Dashboard Version

    The version of the dashboard.

    Lock

    Stops widgets being added to the dashboard, or existing widgets being configured or moved.

    Public

    Makes the dashboard public so that it can be accessed by anyone with the link without needing to login. See Public Dashboards for more information.Public Dashboards

    If it is enabled, the Paste URL option is displayed.

    Public URL

    The public dashboard URL.

    It is displayed when Public is enabled. You can copy it by clicking on the Copy Public URL icon new_copy_public_url.png and pasting that URL in the browser. The public dashboard will load without asking to login.

    You can also:

    • click View Dashboard to view the JSON code for the dashboard

    • click Export Dashboard to download the JSON code for the dashboard to your computer.

      Note

      After making changes, you can upload the JSON code for the dashboard by clicking Import on the User Profile > User name > Dashboards tab.

    • click Generate Thumbnail to create a thumbnail image of the dashboard that can be used to more easily identify the dashboard in the Dashboards settings screen.

  5. Click Update.

    Your settings are applied to the current dashboard.
